Located at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon in Wasatch County, Bloods Lake Trail is a hike that's great for the whole family. This hike provides classic views of spring wildflowers and fall colors. Dogs are allowed on-leash up to Bloods Lake, but not after. The trailhead can easily be reached from the Wasatch Front, Midway, and Park City-just below Guardsman Pass. This hike starts above 9000 feet of elevation. Short portions of the trail are steep and rocky. Consider a slight extension to this route to take in new views by hopping on the Lupine and Kalamazoo trails to get back to the parking lot. Dogs are allowed on most of this trail, but are not allowed at Bloods Lake itself. Dogs must be leashed at all times on this trail. The former trailhead for this route moved in 2020 from Guardsman Pass to the Bloods Lake Trailhead parking lot. The old trailhead at Guardsman Pass is now solely a short-term drop-off and viewpoint. The trail connection between Bloods Lake and Guardsman Pass is permanently closed. Guardsman Pass is closed during the winter, which makes this trail inaccessible by car when significant snow is present.
